Stop trying to play by ear by using intervals! Learn to automatically understand an entire melody within the context of the key with no guessing.

Other ear training apps try to give you tons of exercises to do so that you are overwhelmed and un-focused. The main unnecessary training given in these apps is interval training. This app focuses on mastering one thing: hearing, understanding, and playing melodies by ear. In this way, you will focus on the same task everyday while building towards mastery.

Melodies consist of tones, not intervals. Its time to train yourself to listen for the actual tones instead of the distance between them. In this way, you can understand entire melodies immediately instead of stopping to analyze the negative space between each tone.

This app utilizes the immediate emotional response from hearing different scale tones in order to instinctually perceive melodies on an instrument. Each scale tone has an associated image which describes the "feeling" of the tone in the context of the key center. A melody is played and then the user presses buttons (in the appearance of a piano keyboard) to match the melody. It was designed and built by a professional jazz pianist.

The tutorial mode teaches you with step-by-step instructions how to perceive each scale tone, using the major and minor scales as reference. It has very simple games that the user can play as mini-challenges. It is designed to prepare the user for game mode.

The game mode sets a time limit and generates a score for the player based on number of questions (melodies) answered correctly and percent accuracy. The user can choose major, minor, blues, and chromatic scales. There are also special "bebop" scales which utilize passing tones and resolution points. The scores are saved and users can compete with each other, as well as view rankings and scores.
